Patch inspiration...
I grew up playing the SNES, and my two favorite games were Kirby Superstar and Mega Man X (Rockman X). Maybe I just liked the idea of taking enemies' abilities and using them strategically against other enemies. Now as an EDC/bag/patch person, seeing other nintendo character patches made me feel nostalgic for the SNES-specific renditions of these characters. Not finding any, I had them produced for myself and anyone else who shared the same love for these games.
